On a trip to Geauga County with Emil Bacik, Helen Baber, and Linda Tabor, our highlight today was an adult NORTHERN GOSHAWK soaring above Bundysburg Rd. We had a prolonged look at this bird as it caught the thermals and soared higher and higher before heading north.
On Nauvoo Road between Hayes Rd & Bundysburg Rd, 2 Red-tailed Hawks were on a treetop copulating when a Kestrel dive-bombed them. Two Rough-legged hawks were also seen along Hayes and Bundysburg roads.
There was a small movement of raptors today throughout our travels in Trumbull, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties, including Sharp-shinned, Red-shouldered, Merlin, Bald Eagle, & Turkey Vultures.
New spring arrival today in the Mosquito Wildlife Area in Trumbull County was a singing Field Sparrow.
