This morning I was along the lake in Painesville Township. I was watching a
large flock of bank swallows that started flocking up. I figured there must
be a raptor nearby so I started looking around. I looked up just in time to
catch a immature golden eagle passing directly overhead. The white spots at
the base of the primaries and the white on the base of the tail told me
immediately i had a golden eagle. The bird unfortunately was heading east
fast and disappeared into the trees before I could get a photo. What was
interesting is there were very few birds moving along the lake this morning.
Other birds of note this morning were 17 species of warblers including
orange-crowned, mourning, and 2 chats. I also had a couple alder
flycatchers and at least 14 willows. There was also a sedge wren.
