I have received two unconfirmed reports of a brown pelican at Berlin
Lake in Portage County. One call came to the Wildlife District 3 Office
on Tuesday from a caller who felt compelled to report what he "thought"
was a brown pelican. Another sighting was reported this morning to the
Berlin Lake Wildlife Area staff by a boater. This sighting supposedly
occurred south of the State Route 224 causeway. No more details
available. Neither of these sightings came from what I would consider
knowledgeable birders but this certainly bears checking out by anyone
close to that area.
