I used this Christmas eve morning to hike around Highbanks MetroPark (N of Columbus). The trails were pounded into an icy skating rink by legions of walkers and runners, so be aware if you plan on a visit over the next few days. Many birds were out, but nearly all of them were expected residents. I ran across 1 flock of 6-7 Yellow-rumped warblers along the Dripping Rock trail, and a flock of 7 Tree Sparrows was near the feeders at the nature center. Stops at a few smaller nearby parks were even less productive, but it was a nice morning to get out.
