My January quest for 100 species continued by starting the day at Camp
Dennison on the east side of Cincinnati, where I found three Green-winged

For a complete report of that trip led by Bob Foppe, go to

 Hello Everyone,

On Saturday, January 20th, the Black Swamp Bird Observatory (BSBO) will be hosting a program on establishing and maintaining Purple Martin colonies. This program will be presented by Morris Yoder, President of the American Bird Conservation Association (ABCA). The ABCA is an Ohio based organization dedicated to conservation and education, with a focus on secondary cavity nesters. Morris is also a successful auctioneer, and this vocal talent makes him a really enjoyable public speaker. His talks are very informative, backed by years of experience, and extremely entertaining to boot!

This program is part of the BSBO Lunch Lecture Series, so in addition to this great presentation, we'll feed you a nice lunch too. We begin each program with lunch at 12:30 and the presentations are from 1:00-2:00 PM. Cost is a $7.00 donation per BSBO member and a $10.00 donation per nonmember.

Please call the BSBO Nature Center at (419) 898-4070 to reserve a seat.
For directions to the BSBO Nature Center and to check out all the other great stuff BSBO is up to, visit our fantastic new website at: www.bsbobird.org

Thanks and good birding,
Kim Kaufman
Education Director
