Don't know how many people participated in Paul Hurtado's idea of a July
birding competition, but I thought I would share my final totals, as July
comes to a close. I ended July 2014 with a total of 150 species for Ohio.
During July, I was able to add 11 birds to my year list, which were Summer
Tanager, Kentucky Warbler, Northern Bobwhite, American Avocet, Short-billed
Dowitcher, Dickcissel, Pectoral Sandpiper, Stilt Sandpiper, Piping Plover,
Wilson's Snipe, and Black-bellied Whistling-Duck. The Kentucky Warbler I
saw in Mohican State Forest was my best bird for July, being a lifer for
me.

Some other good birds for the month of July I had were both bitterns, 17
species of shorebirds, Red-breasted Nuthatch, and 17 species of warblers.

Did anybody else participate in this competition?

Good Birding
