I took a drive around some of the Zaleski SF this morning finding the same 5 warblers as at Shawnee yesterday, but there were differences in abundance between those species compared to Shawnee which reflects the different habitats and the fact that it's further north. Birds noted at Zaleski today included :

5 Black-thr Green Warblers
9 Yellow-thr Warblers
30 Pine Warblers (all singing males)
2 B&W Warblers
10 Louisianas

At Shawnee yesterday all the Yellow-throateds were in the valleys. At Zaleski only one of them was and the rest were in pines on the ridges. I heard zero Blue-heded Vireos today and only one B-g Gnatcatcher. Otherwise the birds were pretty similar. There were some migrant Yellow-rumps too.

This afternoon I headed west to Deer Creek. Along the way I passed thropugh the southern part of the Hocking SF along Rt. 56 and heard a couple more B-t Greens there too.

I was hoping to find some shorebird habitat at Deer Creek, but I found nothing worth mentioning. I didn't check out the wetlands at New Holland, but it could possibly be worth checking out during a longer visit. Since I hadn't seen a Vesper Sparrow yet this year, I looked for a few of them from my atlasing last year. All the Vespers I looked for were found back in their same spots. Vesper Sparrows are fairly common in the farm roads south and west of the reservoir. In one spot at a drainage ditch with a few small saplings, a Song Sparrow and Vesper Sparrow were perched no more than 2 feet from each other in the tallest small sapling. Both birds delivered their songs alternating back and forth both and seemed perfectly at ease with the other bird being there.
