As I mentioned in my KI census report, it appeared that waxwings were still
migrating. That I understand. But on Thursday, I had 4 adult Least
Sandpipers feeding and preening on the Horseshoe Island mudflat on Muddy
Creek Bay. So here is my question? Were they late going north, were they
spending the summer in Ohio, or are they early coming south. I couldn't
tell the sexes of the individuals. If I could have, it might help answer
the question. Males migrate north earlier and south earlier. So if they
were males, fall migration has started, if they were females, spring
migration hasn't finished. But it appears the waxwings are showing us
that. I hate to think fall migration has started, I haven't enjoyed summer
yet...
