Given the recent reports from this Columbus MP, I decided to make the drive. I often birded here when I lived in Lancaster OH a few yrs ago & I had some great mornings.
This morning wasn't stellar and it was definitely a bird by ear day (leaves are farther along than Cleveland) but I pulled out some FOYs that I've managed to miss so far; only 11 warblers:
Ruby-thr HB
Blue-headed Vireo
Palm Warbler
Blue-throated Warbler (high in the canopy...)
Veery
Swainson's Thrush
Lincoln's Sparrow
Summer Tanager
Other warblers, mostly heard or high in the canopy:
Com YT
Black-thr Green
Yellow-throated
Ovenbird (the only obliging Warbler)
Hooded
Yellow-rumped
La Waterthrush
Nashville
N Parula
Other birds:
Y-B Cuckoos
Scarlet Tanager
Wood Thrush
Wild Turkeys
Indigo Buntings
Rose-breasted GB
House Wren
Hairy WP
Pileated WP
Spotted SPs
I also think I had a Black-billed Cuckoo (back of the Goldenrod Trail). I got a few ok pix that are mostly silhouettes but the bill looked more delicate & all dark, both in the pix & thru binos. Was silent but I did not see much white on the tail when it flew.
