I contacted Gary Stegner this morning. Per Gary: Alas, the last sighting of the
Garganey was Friday the 13th in the Biowetland. Several hundred birders from 24
states and Canada saw the Garganey, including two Big Year birders. Jon Dunn
even brought a Wings tour group to see it. It was fun while it lasted.

I visited Fernald on May 10th, and a large group of very well mannered 5th graders from
a local school district took turns looking through 3 spotting scopes at the
Garganey in the biowetland... they were so impressed with the rare visitor!
