I was in Northwest Ohio over the last couple days and had a couple interesting sightings. I was along the wildlife beach at Magee marsh on Wednesday afternoon and had three white pelicans fly by. I am assuming these are the same ones reported about a week ago, so they may be hanging out somewhere in the area. Quite a few years ago some hung around the mouth of Crane Creek at Ottawa NWR and if they weren't in the bay, they were usually seen flying around.

The second bird was an American Avocet at Metzger Marsh. It was observed sitting on a muskrat mound in the marsh. The water is high and there appeared to be no shorebird habitat. I'm not sure what you'd classify this as either a late spring or early fall migrant, or summering bird. Either way if in the area keep your eyes open
