I spent about 4 hours traveling the roads of the subject block as part of the Winter Bird Atlas count today. I tallied 1000+ horned Larks, 500+ Snow Buntings and several hundred American Tree Sparrows along with many of the more common year round species. There was still enough snow to bring many birds to the roadsides. After 1:00 pm the raptors began to show up in good numbers. Even had 10 Eastern Bluebirds.
Hope many of you will be able to get out and fill in those blocks that are not well covered. To find out if there is one near you, simply go to <bsbobird.org>and look at the Winter Bird Atlas link.
