Coming back from ODNR (where I helped Donna Daniel sort Peregrine nest box remains, but that's another post), I stopped by Merrick & Fairview around 3:45 and was almost immediately rewarded with a view of the Western Tanager. She hopped around the bushes east of the intersection, ate a berry, then took off towards the south. She appeared very active, and likely has scoped out all of the useful fruiting plants within a half-mile. I would suspect that it has a favored spot to the south , probably in the yards around the Summit Chase skyscraper.
