Greetings -
From 7:30 a.m. till 11:30 a.m., Emil Bacik and I did a lakewatch from atop the bluff of Miller Road Park, which lies immediately to the west of the Avon Lake Powerplant. Sustained WNW winds at 10-15 mph and a passing front between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. pushed a fair number of birds west to east. The watch died almost completely around 11:15 a.m. An incredible number of Monarchs were coming off the lake from 11 a.m. onward, with several hundred seen shore-bound. The juvenile Sabine's Gull was a fair ways out and required a scope, viewed well, then, as it passed quickly to the east amidst a stream of Ring-billed Gulls.
