Greetings---it's good to see others birded in southern Mahoning Co. today. I did a pretty thorough search of the NE sector of the county, covering Struthers, Lowellville, Poland Twp., and Coitsville Twp. Highlights were: 5 Am. wigeon, greater scaup, bufflehead, 46 wild turkeys, turkey vulture, 5 red-shouldered hawks, 5 red-tailed hawks, sharp-shinned hawk (with freshly-killed robin), Cooper's hawk, Carolina wren, e. bluebirds, n. mockingbird, e. towhee, 85 dark-eyed juncos, 27 Am. tree sparrows, 15 song sparrows, fox sparrow, 5 white-throated sparrows, and 20 snow buntings. Zero killdeers today...good luck to them and other early returnees in the state such as woodcocks, phoebes, and tree swallows. Later, Craig
