Avon Lake Power Plant (Lorain Co.)
Big Island Wildlife Management Area (Marion Co.)

Observer: Steve Matherly

At about 1:00pm on December 20, 2010, I saw a female "type" Surf Scoter about 200 yards west of the Avon Lake power plant. In addition, there were three Redheads, several Canvasbacks, both scaup species, Common Goldeneye, Bufflehead, American Black Duck and Mallards present. While I was there a flock of roughly 50 swans (Tundra?) flew by going east.

Shortly before dark, at least four and probably more, Short-eared Owls were seen at Big Island WMA.
