There was a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET at Stage's Pond State Nature Preserve
today. I had excellent close views for a few minutes. The ruby crown was
quite apparent.
Other birds seen included a Ring-necked Pheasant, a Sharp-shinned Hawk and
two Northern Flickers, plus 15 more common species.
Stage's Pond SNP is located in DeLorme 68C2, about 4 miles north of
Circleville, 1.5 miles east of US 23 on Hagerty Road, which DeLorme calls
Red Bridge Road.
Yesterday at Glacier Ridge Metro Park, northwest of Columbus, there was a
flock of at least 10 Eastern Meadowlarks, at least 2 Northern Flickers and a
Pileated Woodpecker, plus a number of common species.
Directions to Glacier Ridge are at www.metroparks.net.
