My husband and I stepped out on our back steps last night. I happened
to look up into the locust tree that stands about 10 feet away to see
a bird silhouetted perfectly on a low branch. It was a Northern
Saw-Whet! His shape was unmistakable. We do have several pine trees in
the neighborhood that perhaps he's hanging around in. This was a life
bird for me (my first owl actually seen in the wild)! Very cool and
astonishing!
Also, I've had a Red-bellied Woodpecker hanging around at the suet
feeder for the last week, and a Cooper's Hawk has been visiting as
well.
Best,
Jennifer Lenhart (Lakewood, OH, Cuyahoga County)
