I had a hoary redpoll at my feeders this morning around 10:15. It was
amongst a group of about 100 redpolls. It may possibly have been the same
bird that was last seen on 12/31. Looking at my photos I took then, it sure
looked the same. But as before there was little feeder activity at all
until around 10:00. Birds started coming in and close to 10:30 a group of
house finches came in followed by the redpolls. The birds were there about
5 minutes and a sharp-shinned came in scaring everything. The house finches
returned about 20 minutes later, but the redpolls never returned. I walked
around looking along the cliff and saw nothing. I left around 11:45. When
I giot home this evening the feeders were barely down. I have a Cooper's
and a sharp-shinned regularly coming to the feeders so when the birds are
here they are jumpy. I'll advise if it returns.
