I had two separate encounters with pairs of Marsh Wrens today at Spring
Valley, which may or may not have been the same pair. First, in the corn
fields south of the wetlands, then again along the trail on the far side of
the pond. The second encounter I heard their noisy approach out of the east
from 100 yards off before they crossed the trail within 10 feet of me and
went into scold mode for several minutes out of sight in the thicket.

Otherwise: White-crowned Sparrows (6) and Swamp Sparrows (3) continue to be
seen among the American Tree, White-throated and Song Sparrows in the south
cornfields and edges. A pair of Purple Finches were the trail-head feeder
highlights. American Wigeons, Coots and Canada Geese were the only
waterfowl. Northern Harrier (immature) and Red-tailed Hawk for raptors.
