I stopped briefly at the impoundment on the east side of Lorain Harbor
yesterday (7/14). There were a few shorebirds there with the best being 2
American avocets and a willet. The willet was a flyby. Also present were
1- semipalmated plover, 4- killdeer, 6- spotted sandpipers, 1- greater
yellowlegs, 4- lest sandpipers, and 2- semipalmated sandpipers. Its worth a
stop if you are looking for shorebirds.
If you are coming from the west the Rte 6 bridge over the Black River is
closed so you either have to take the Henderson Bridge via the Broadway
detour or you can take Rte 2 to Rte 611 and come the back way.
