Counters on the Western Hamilton County CBC found 91 species, eclipsing our
old record of 88. We added two new species to our all-time list, Common
Redpoll and Red Crossbill (both had previously been seen during count week,
but never on count day). Besides the Red-crossbills, White-winged were
found in two separate spots. Sandhill Cranes were streaming through the
area today. We found 3,205, compared to our old high count of 461.
Red-breasted Nuthatches were also widespread - our count of 33 nearly
reached the previous high of 39.
