The Townsend's Solitaire just showed up in a crab apple tree at the Quarry
condos on Kelleys Island. Seems to like the tree in front of Condo
Building #9 which is where the Bohemian Waxwing was several years ago. The
bird was still feeding at 9:15 AM. The condos are in "downtown" Kelleys
Island. The bird hadn't been seen in 2 weeks.
Problems for people hoping to chase this bird. No ferry today. Tomorrow
the schedule is 8, 9, noon, 4 and 5. Leaves the island on the half hour.
Cost is $19 per person and $30 for car round trip. You can fly from Port
Clinton on Griffin Air but I don't know the schedule. The cost is about
$100 round trip.
There are no lodgings on the island that I know of. And no restaurants
open. The Island Market is open from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. On the weekends
it maybe open longer.
I plan to be here until Saturday. Very limited access to internet. Cell
567-278-2300
Will try to post photos when I figure it out.
