Christopher Collins let me know of a Marbled Godwit yesterday at Killdeer
Plains Pond 27...I was at Headlands and Lorain, and Lakeview doing one more
day of North Shore Birding. So I wasn't able to get down there and see it
right away...so I texted Ron Sempier so that he could get it at least. :-D
He texted me back saying he saw it and where to look. All the way in the
back.
I finished early...well, the rain pushed me home. I would have stayed and
looked for more shorebirds, but it looked like it was just getting worse so
I hurried home...I was in such a hurry, I got on that dang toll road
instead of Rt 2...oh well.. :-D When I got to Killdeer, the sun was
setting so light was fading fast. But I got my scope out and scanned the
back side of the pond and found it preening on the bank. Way to far for
pictures, but it was there. :-D
The pond is drying, but it still is attracting the normal shorebirds too,
so it is still a good place to check.
Happy Birding, and God Bless
Steve J.
