Huron Pier late this morning was as productive as perhaps I've seen it this year.  Decent numbers of Bonaparte's (3000) have finally moved into the river, harbor, and beyond, and among them, fairly close was a single first-yr LITTLE GULL.  This is the third young Little I've seen this fall, but not one adult - usually, it's the opposite.  There were also good numbers of other gulls sitting just offshore and on the beach in the bay west of the pier, though only a Lesser Black-backed was among them.  A single DUNLIN spent some time on the beach, as well.  The other story was the number of Mallards (800) and black ducks (75) concentrated here today - probably due to inland freezeups, and iroically, just after hunting season's close.

A steady procession of Bonies was also heading east-west at Huron, and the same at Lorain, where 150 passed in 30 min or so.

Good birding -
Gabe Leidy
