Hey all -

The metaphorical cherry on top of a stunning day of birding, which included a flock of Sabine's Gulls (something I've been daydreamt about for eons), was a single Red-necked Phalarope at Lorain Impoundment this evening. This bird energetically and mechanically swam laps around a small puddle, like an avian wind-up toy, as I crept to within 12 feet or so. These random puddles at Lorain have been drawing shorebirds all season, including Black-bellied Plover, American Golden-Plover (ph Dave Scali), snipe, and both yellowlegs within the past couple days - though nothing like the shorebirding we had here last year.

If haven't already looked at it twelve times, do yourself a favor and check out Jen's Sabine's Gull capture on the N/NW blog - it's a masterpiece!

Good birding -
Gabe Leidy
