I saw a female wild turkey in Bedford Reservation this morning. It was
leading seven very large immature birds through the woods. A tom was
following them. It did a brief display strut with all of its feathers spread
out. But, the uninterested female just led her youngsters away. The male
followed them.
I saw a pair of white-breasted nuthatches exploring cavities.
I saw a large number of either downy or hairy woodpecker feathers on the
forest floor under some hemlocks. There were some big splats of white
droppings, too. I think some bird of prey had a woodpecker meal.
