The Eagle nest near Omega(Pike County) has at least 1-young in it now(could be 2?). I watched one of the Adult birds feeding the chick this afternoon..it's head just barely visible above the rim of the nest. I could be wrong but I believe this nest is fairly new..only a couple of years in use.
For the B.B. Atlas project, they get a NY...Eagles nesting in Southern Ohio 20 yrs ago were a dream. Nice to have them.
I also checked on the Eagle nest near Richmond Dale. The distance keeps me from seeing young in the nest itself, but the Adults have been on site for over a month now. This site has been in use for at least 5 yrs.
I'm sure there are more nests out there to be found..if a nest looks really big, even at a great distance, and there is any water way near it..better check it out. The nest at Richmond Dale is on the bank of Walnut Creek- (not the Scioto River near by)..and there are places it's only 25ft. or so across.
