Sorry - my mistake. They are actually red-breasted mergansers. I just glanced out the window and did not look harder. Sorry.

Subject: Hoover common mergansers and loon
Just above the dam behind the office there are now about 10 Common Mergansers and a beautiful common loon, as well as many Bonaparte's gulls, hooded mergansers, some coots.
