I know that many of you know of the Amer. Robin's propensity for staying north in recent decades. I have seen HUGE groups of robins..200 or more around select crabapple trees in suburb. The beautiful, exciting and wonderful Harris' Sparrow remains reliable at
the Amish farmhouse at 3395 Township Road 406. It is always with a large group
of White-crowned sparrows. Today it was not at the feeders but rather along
the creek opposite the house. The homeowners are delightful people who are
happy to have you come inside if you wish, and they are maintaining a list of
visitors for you to sign.
The location has been reported as north of Millersburg. This is not so - it
is dead east of Millersburg. On page 51 of Delorme, this tiny unpaved road
is just below the words Walnut Creek. I found wonderful directions using
expedia.com. If you are coming from the Cleveland area, be sure to travel via
Route 94 as it passes through fabulously lovely farm country with big hills
where you go up looking at sky and more sky, then crest the hill for an
expansive vista full of corn stalk bunches. Even without the bird, the drive would
have made it a great and memorable day. With the bird, it was just over the
top!
