Had to send this a little late because the computer was down for a couple of days.
It was probably the best day I've ever had a Magee Marsh & I've had around a hundred.
The best bird was a Connecticut Warbler, which I last saw when I was in High School about 60 years ago. Hope I don't have to wait that long for the next one.
While watching a Nashville Warbler about 100 feet high in a tree, I noticed a larger bird sleeping crossways on a large branch. It was a nighthawk, probably the first I've seen at Magee.
Watched a Yellow billed Cuckoo crawling along a branch.
Saw a Black-bellied Plover on one of those metal breakwaters on the beach.
Lots of beautiful birds: Scarlet Tanager, Yellow breasted Chat, Rose Breasted Grosbeak, Baltimore & Orchard Orioles, Blackburnian, Parula, Prothronatary (not spelled right), & lots of others. Spoke to a lady who had seen 23 warbler species.
Saw on 2 Yellow rumped warblers. Do you suppose that's why it was such a good day.
Later on I visited Metzker Marsh. All I saw was several thousand mayflies.
