Here's a photo of a newly fledged Sharp-shinned Hawk that I came across on one of my Segway tours on the trails this week. It didn't quite have the hang of how this flying thing works. I saw it land on this branch that was obviously too small for it's fett to grasp easily. It swung around and hanged like a bat for about 10-15 mins. before letting go and flapping awkwardly on down the trail to a log. I came across it again when it flew off to another little sapling and pulled a repeat peformance. At least I hope that's what's going on and not another victim of West Nile virus.
