There were three Lesser Black-backed Gulls (2 ad, 1
1st-winter) on the ice at E. 55th St. Marina this
morning. The whole marina is frozen over and all the
gulls were assembled on the ice, so these guys were
very easy to pick out. These are the only interesting
gulls I was able to turn up between here and E. 72nd.
There were a lot of ducks around, including 9
Pied-billed Grebes, Buffleheads, scaup, and goldeneye.
On one of the coldest days so far (Thursday), a Turkey
Vulture drifted over Eastwood Rd. in Hinckley...
Good birding -
