Well I've been laying low this past week just having fun watching the
backyard birds as they swarmed the feeders in this cold snowy weather
we've been having. I took a nice walk today and spotted a few more
birds in the back 40 acres including the cute little Golden-crowned
Kinglets which I haven't seen yet this January surprisingly enough.
They are some of my favorite little sprites. They seem to just move up
and down the corridor along the stream that runs through our property,
and I'm lucky enough to be able to hear them before I see them. List:
Feeder / trees by the house birds:
Carolina Wren - 2 our locals, they are almost never seen actually
feeding before, I found it interesting
American Tree Sparrow
Song Sparrow
Juncos
Carolina Chickadees
Tufted Titmice
W-b. Nuthatches
Downy Woodpeckers - (often 3 at a time!)
Red-bellied Woodpeckers - 2 (male and female)
Cardinals
House Finch
Am Goldfinches
Blue Jays
Robins
E. Bluebirds - 4 (yea)
House Sparrows
Starlings

Further out in the back 40
Golden Crowned Kinglet - 6
Mourning Dove - 25+
Am. Crow- 5
N. Mockingbird - he's actually been up near the house the day before
Cooper's Hawk
Red-tailed Hawk - 2 It would be cool to find where these are nesting-
must be nearby.
More American Tree Sparrows and Juncos etc.

Tomorrow I go to the Lake Erie shoreline etc, here's hoping for
some good luck.
 Good birding to all,
- Ben Warner
