I was at Sims Park in Euclid late this afternoon from 4 to 5pm. It has had so much ice I wasn't going there much but its open again. The lake was calm and hazy. Here is some of what I saw:
Surf Scoter - 1 (first year male) dark brown bird-mottled looking, lighter breast, darker top of head, long orangish bill with some white on it, no visbile white marks on face
Lesser Scaup - dozens
Common Goldeneye - still over 277
Red-breasted Mergansers - many, some Bufflehead
Bonaparte's Gulls - many more now (saw my first dozen 3/21 at East 55th St. Marina)
Pied-billed Grebe 1
