Hello All.
We decided to find some of the birds we have been reading about so
ventured out early to places close by in Lorain County. Our first
stop was Sandy Ridge. We searched for the Shrike and the Sandhill
Cranes but didn't see either. We did, however, spot a kingfisher and
a red headed woodpecker. For some reason I was surprised to see the
woodpecker. I thought they would be further South. We later traveled
to Caley Woods, Lorain County and spotted 5 short eared owls. They
were a true delight and apparently have been taking advantage of good
hunting based on the carnage under the pines. In spite of the cold,
it was a delightful day of birding.
Cheers
Dorothy & Doug
