A couple of items of interest. Those who watched the PBS special on red
knots and horseshoe crabs may be interested to learn the New Jersey
Maritime Fisheries Commission just voted to lift a moratorium on take of
horseshoe crabs. Federally, endangered species protection for the knot
has not been possible because of reduced funding from the current
administration. Story at
