I hit the north end of Hoover quickly around noon today. I stopped at the Galena Cemetery where I had an interesting encounter with a red fox. The fox just would sit and look at me as I stood there, then it ran across the trestle and down the path  after a while. The birds there were few and far between. Just the usuals really.

Next I hit Dustin Road and right beside the parking pull out was a Hermit Thrush. I also had Tree Swallows, Ruby-Crowned Kinglets and BlueGray Gnatcatchers.

I came back home and out back I had both Kinglets, Brown Thrashers, my first migrant Swamp Sparrow by the creek. The Ruby-crowned Kinglets were singing away. Blue Birds and Tree Swallows are inspecting the new nest boxes I put up for them. I also had my first Barn Swallows back on the land this spring. Plenty of Field Sparrows, E. Towhees, Song Sparrows and also E. Phoebe, Carolina Wren, Red-tailed Hawks and lots of Turkey Vultures.

Tomorrow I'll be leading the Wed. Morning Birdwalk at the Brown Family Environmental Center at Kenyon College at 8:00am. We should have some decent migrants to see tomorrow, feel free to Join us, the address is 9781 Laymon Road, Gambier OH, 43022.

        good birding,
