Hi all:

After an absolutely stunning day of birding in Shawnee State Forest with the
Columbus Avids group on Saturday (loads of warblers), I returned home and
took my dog for a much-needed walk through Walhalla Ravine in the
Clintonville neighborhood of Columbus. I guess the birding day wasn't over
just yet, as I had good looks at a Gray-cheeked Thrush and a Cerulean
Warbler! The Cerulean was feeding just above eye level along Walhalla road
in the upper part of the ravine, while the thrush was near a scrubby area
near the Calumet Street bridge. Neither bird was present the following day;
I assume both were just refueling before departing for points north. But it
goes to show it pays to take along a pair of binoculars when you walk your
dog.
