I spent the morning and early afternoon at Shawnee State Forest from
about 7:30 am until about 1:30 pm. There was a fair amount of birdsong
early but it died down later. The cold and rain apparently caused the
decrease. It was a fair morning for warblers but not as good as Brad
Sparks' report of Saturday, 04/12.

Yellow-rumped Warbler 15

Yellow-throated warbler 2

Pine Warbler 5

Black & White Warbler 4

Louisiana Waterthrush 7

Ovenbird 2

Blue-headed Vireo 1

Ruffed Grouse 1, drumming at the juncture of Forest Roads 2
and 5

Red-shouldered Hawk 1

Broad-winged Hawk 1

Red-tailed Hawk 1

On the way home, I found 2 more Broad-winged Hawks, both hunting or
feeding in ditches, along the roadside along Weaver Road and Wagner
Riffle Road in the vicinity of Brush Creek. Both flew up and sat in
trees close to the roadside.
