Hello All,
On Tuesday I received a call from Curt Dusthimer that he had found an adult
Little Blue Heron at the Hebron Fish Hatchery earlier that day, but after a 3-hr
search of the impoundments and adjacent wetlands area this morning, the
bird was not re-located. Of course, that doesn't mean that it's not still there.
As you may know, they can be pretty secretive as they move through vegetation
and are easily missed, especially in the wetlands area located N and E of the
older impoundments. This area can be accessed by a county road running right
along I-70, on the S side. Besides an American Pipit, the best bird of the morning
was probably a Solitary Sandpiper, with no other shorebird species found besides
a handful of Killdeer. There is really a lot of good shorebird habitat at many of the
lowered impoundments right now, just waiting for their arrival.

Good Birding.
