Howdy All,

Sorry for the belated posting. I ended the day with 22 first of the
year (FOY) in Ohio species.

I started the day on Saturday, April 26, in Southwest Ohio between 9:30
and 10:00 am at Ellis Lake and nearby Gilmore Ponds. At Ellis Lake, I
found one Black-bellied Plover (FOY), which flew and revealed the black
axillaries/"arm pits," 18 Lesser Yellowlegs, 3 Solitary Sandpipers, one
Spotted Sandpiper (FOY), one Least Sandpiper and 14 Pectoral Sandpipers
and many Killdeer. It was chilly and damp. Along the bike/hike trail
to the east I found 2 Cooper's Hawks, 1 Warbling Vireo (FOY), 1 Chimney
Swift (FOY), 4 N. Rough-winged Swallows, 2 Barn Swallows, 1 Red-breasted
Nuthatch, 1 House Wren, 1 Wood Thrush, 6 Gray Catbirds (FOY), 1
Blue-winged Warbler (FOY), 8 Yellow Warblers, 1 Yellow-throated Warbler,
2 Palm Warblers and 3 Indigo Buntings (FOY).

At Gilmore Ponds, I found 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 1 Sora, 1 Chimney Swift,
4 White-eyed Vireos (FOY), 4 Warbling Vireos, 2 Red-eyed Vireos (FOY),
10 Tree Swallows, 6 N. Rough-winged Swallows, 3 Ruby-crowned Kinglets, 8
Gray Catbirds, 3 Brown Thrashers, 3 Nashville Warblers (FOY), 12 Yellow
Warblers, 20 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 4 Palm Warblers, 1 Black & White
Warbler, 2 Prothonatary Warblers, 1 Northern Waterthrush (FOY), 1
Yellow-breasted Chat (FOY), 1 Blue Grosbeak (FOY), male, 2 Baltimore
Orioles (FOY) and 4 Orchard Orioles (FOY), 3 males and 1 first year
male-yellow with black face patch.

At Spring Valley WA, I added 1 Eastern Kingbird, 2 Yellow-throated
Vireos (FOY), 4 White-eyed Vireos, 3 Warbling Vireos, 15 Yellow
Warblers, 100 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 10 palm Warblers, 3 Prothonatary
Warblers, 1 Baltimore Oriole, 3 Orchard Orioles, 1 Virginia Rail (FOY)
and 7 Soras at the boardwalk. At the gravel pit north of the
Rosanna-New Burlington Road, I found 6 Gadwall, 2 Northern Shovelers,
males, 3 American Wigeon, 1 male & 2 females and one Redhead, male.

As the sun started dropping more rapidly in the west, I made a few fast
stops at Caesar Creek State Park. First I found one Great Crested
Flycatcher (FOY) and another Yellow-throated Vireo in the woods at the
Horseman's Camp Ground one the way from Spring Valley to Caesar Creek
SP. At the watertower on the way to the beach off of Route 73, I found
a Prairie Warbler (FOY) singing and 1 Northern Parula singing at the
parking lot in the gorge below the dam. Again at Caesar Creek SP on the
road on the way in to 50 Springs Picnic Area across from the first
parking lot on the right, I found Hooded Warbler (FOY).

Just before sunset, at Voice of America Park, I found 4 Bobolinks (FOY)
and 1, maybe a second, Henslow's Sparrows (FOY) singing.
