Hi All:

I'm happy to see that Ed Pierce is receiving the accolades he so richly
deserves for his roles with The Ohio Cardinal. Many people have
contributed to its existence over the years, but without Ed's support it
simply wouldn't have survived.

Just as a point of historical accuracy, though, Ed is not quite the
founder, though under that name, perhaps he is. "The Cardinal" was first
published in 1978 by John Herman of Mansfield. John got to know many
birders around the state aided by Jim Fry who had developed a network to
help him find Ohio birds. Ed took over its publication in Vol. 2 and
added Ohio to the title in Vol. 3.

Again, thanks to Ed and the long list of Ohio birders who developed and
continued The Ohio Cardinal.
