A first-spring male Summer Tanager spent at least 10 minutes in my
backyard this evening. Before going into the apple blossoms, it spent a
moment or two on the dish-style hummingbird feeder, making it a new
feeder bird as well as new yard bird.

Hmmm, yesterday at 6 pm the Sandhill Crane flew over, just a few miles
from here. Today at 6 pm the Summer Tanager appeared in my yard. I
wonder what 6 pm tomorrow will bring?

birds he would have done better to preach to the cats." -- Rebecca West
