most birding at headlands beach state park was stopped this morning (05/23/2008) as observers strained to see a connecticut warbler that sang his heart out for the better part of two and a half hours from thick tangles and honeysuckle at the end of the fence of the fisherman's path to the breakwall. the bird was loud and very close but only gave observers brief glimpses for the most part. finally most got to study the bird as he sang, again loud and clear, within 15 feet of the gathered observers who had been witness to the morning concert. the piping plover, noted at headlands beach state park throughout the day yesterday (05/22/2008), was not relocated today.
