SPECIES IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS ARE REVIEW-LIST SPECIES. Details of
these sightings are desired by The Ohio Bird Records Committee. Careful
observation, not ornithological expertise, is the only qualification
for submitting your data. For details and pointers see:
http://www.ohiobirds.org/records/documentation.php

Little Blue Heron: John Watts found one at the Evans Road bridge at
Lake Logan, Hocking County, on the 2nd. An attempt later in the day
failed to relocate it.

Cattle Egret: Larry Gara found one on the beach at Caesar's Creek State
Park on the 30th.

Golden Eagle: Jeff Brown reported a juvenile soaring near the town of
Mingo, Champaign County, on the 25th.

Willet: Quite a good week for this species. Rick Asamoto spotted two on
the beach at Caesar's Creek State Park on the 29th that could not be
relocated the next day. On the 1st, David True found four on the beach
at Deer Creek State Park, while Jim Fry found a state-record 83 at the
upper end of Lake Logan, Hocking County. Glen Crippen was able to
relocate only two of them the next day.

Whimbrel: On the 30th, Doug Overacker watched one on the beach at Buck
Creek State Park and later in a nearby farm field.

Laughing Gull: There was a second hand report of one on the beach at
Buck Creek State Park on the 30th. It could not be relocated.

Chuck will's Widow: According to Debra Hausrath, they were singing at
their traditional spot along Copas Road in Adams County on the 26th
(old Delorme p.84 B/C 1).

Golden-winged Warbler: A good week for this hard-to-find wood warbler.
Rob Lowry saw one along the front part of the pet trail near the old
orchard trees in Highbanks Metroparks, Delaware County, on the 25th. A
week later on the 2nd, he reported another from the same trail on the
"east side of the muddy stretch". On the 26th the species was reported
from the Winton Woods Birding Fest in Hamilton County and from Mogadore
Reservoir, Portage County. Neil Cade found on at Shawnee Lookout County
Park, Hamilton County, on the 2nd.

Clay-colored Sparrow: Tom Kemp had one in his backyard in Bowling Green
on the 1st. Directions are at www.RareBird.org.

Le Conte's Sparrow: Jay Stenger and Sue Metheny found two on the 26th
at Miami Whitewater Forest and Wetlands, Hamilton County, "along the
farm road in the grassy fields with the wet spots mixed in".

Western Meadowlark: A Wood County Big Day on the 25th included this
species. Presumably it is the previously reported bird at Range Line
and Cygnet Roads west of the town of Cygnet.

Common Redpoll: The one lingering at Bob Lane's feeder near Damascus,
Mahoning County, was last seen on the 25th. John Pogacnik reported that
one touched down at a feeder at his North Perry, Lake County, home on
the 27th.
