As Denise (Akron) already reported the wood storks were still there today.
I spent almost 45 minutes looking and photographing without disturbing them.
I was the only person there (no cars driving by either) until Denise
arrived. It was like being in the wilderness. Overcast - humid - 75
degrees - the birds just kept fishing, sometimes singly and sometimes
cooperatively. It was interesting to see them hold their bill open as they
sifted the water. I think the outstretched wing might scare fish toward
their bill. Just a thought.

I took a lot of pictures and posted 9 that were characteristic including two
showing successful fishing. I especially like the beautiful wings of these
birds, hence the reason for so many pictures with wings spread. The
close-ups are digiscoped and the distant shots are from my DSLR with 300mm
telephoto. Not great in the low light but 'good enough'.

I used Bob Powell's extended directions from I-70 and they took me right
there. The road is wet so your car will need a bath when you get home!
Here are the directions from his 8/28 posting:

"To embroider on Jim's directions for those coming from the south and west,
you can approach the pond from OH 83. From I-70, take OH 83 north through
New Concord and Otsego, taking care to observe the sharp left in Otsego.

From there the road climbs over a ridge and descends into the Wills Creek
drainage. Wills Creek is a substantial waterway at this point. Turn right
just before the bridge onto Tyson Road. It's mud and gravel, but no problem
to drive. Tyson Road parallels Wills Creek past some very likely-looking
habitat, then veers away from the creek and climbs up to a bluff overlooking
a large bottomland cornfield. After passing the cornfield, the road drops
down again. The U-shaped pond is just ahead on the north side of the road,
opposite power pole #37"

Thanks to everyone who posted in the past. Your enthusiasm kept me thinking
of the storks and I just decided to go enjoy them!
