I made a quick run-through of this wetland area SE of Columbus this morning. There seems to be plenty of shorebird habitat, just very few shorebirds. Landbird migration was also fairly meager, with the most interesting stuff from nearby Portman Park (which has better forest edge than the Ponds). Highlights included:

Herons/Egrets - 8 Great egrets were scattered around Wood Duck & Teal Ponds, along with 4-5 Great Blues and a Green Heron.

Waterfowl - mostly small flocks of eclipse Mallards, but I also found 4 Blue-winged Teal.

Shorebirds - most were foraging around the large patch of grass/mud at Wood Duck marsh, and included 10 Kildeer, 1 Greater & 5 Lesser Yellowlegs, 2 Spotted Sandpipers, and 5 Least Sandpipers. A Solitary Spr was at Ellis Pond.

Raptors - despite the gusty winds, only 12 Turkey Vultures and 2 Kestrels were out taking advantage of them. The Osprey appear to have departed the Arrowhead Marsh territory.

Flycatchers - only 2 Pewees and 1 Phoebe were at Portman

Swallows - 2 Tree Swallows and 6 Rough-winged were gliding around Teal Pond and Wood Duck Marsh. At one time they were mock dueling a Kestrel that soared through them in a half-hearted attempt to grab one.

Thrushes - 2 Swainsons were lurking at Portman, along with a flock of 40+ Robins

Vireos - Red-eyed and Warbling were both at Portman, while a White-eyed was near Ellis Pond along the Meadowlark Trail.

Warblers - Black-thr.Blue, Blackpolls, and Redstart were all at Portman

Sparrows - Song Sparrows were strangley absent from a lot of spots, while 2 Savannah Sparrows around the Wood Duck marsh area heralded the start of sparrow migration.
