This morning there were 2 Mute Swans at the Watermark Quarry, joining ~20
Ring-necked Ducks, ~20 coots, several mallards, and a dozen (!) Pied-billed
Grebes. I even saw 2 of the grebes fly, which isn't something you see every
day, usually being very reluctant to take the wing. A kingfisher was
fishing as well.
At the McKinley Rd quarry, there was nothing more than 15 Hooded Mergansers
and a Belted Kingfisher. There is also a quarry just north of Trabue along
Dublin Rd, which held about 30 Ring-necked Ducks.
