Allen Chartier informed me today that all 83 counties in Michigan have reported crossbills this winter! Although not as common in the U.P. as the irruption a few winters ago, they are much more common and widespread in the L.P. this winter.

The sight records resemble a cemetery directory more than crossbill locations Allen says.

He suggests that ALL cemeteries in Ohio should be checked, with or without hemlocks.
